Fields of knowledge: Economics, Sociology, Sociology

On the one hand I am interested in the interplay of economic and demographic developments. For example, I investigate the connection between increasing work-related mobility and declining fertility rates or increasingly unsteady partnership processes. On the other hand, I am concerned with the effect of economic globalization on welfare state systems or the political system.

There are hardly any universal connections in societies. Instead, constantly changing situational conditions are the basis of empirical events.

Short vita

After studying economics at the University of Bonn, I studied social sciences at the University of Cologne in order to gain a comprehensive understanding of social interrelationships. Afterwards, I did my doctorate at the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies on the connection between regional economic and social structures, regional culture and regionally different birth rates in Germany.
